There have been relatively controversies about Wisdom teeth extraction. These wisdom teeth are the last set of teeth to grow in the mouth, this happens between the ages of 17 to 25years. Some of the teeth do not cause problems in the mouth and are thus allow in the mouth, but others do cause a lot of pain and discomfort and must be extracted to set the owner free from pain.

What is more dangerous about these wisdom teeth is that at times they may become impacted, and in this case must be extracted from the mouth. Some people may just it them out but it is preferable to visit a qualified surgeon to remove them. People who plan to extract their wisdom teeth should first of all visit an oral surgeon for consultation

During consultation the surgeon takes x-rays that will determine the severity of your wisdom teeth. He then go through the results together with you, after taking a good look at your mouth he tells you what your options are. If it comes to the option of pulling out your teeth or cutting it then obviously, local anesthesia will be used or even intravenous sedation. IV sedation has been considered now our days as the best method to have wisdom teeth extracted. This is because the when surgery is been carry out you are being relaxed in a way that you don't even know that something is going on. Local anesthesia is also good but it makes you aware of what is going on because of the popping and cracking involved in the extraction, this can really make you feel uncomfortable.

The shape, size and even the formation of the wisdom teeth in the mouth always determine the ease with which the teeth will be extracted. If the root tips have manage to wrap themselves around the bone, this signifies the prolongation of the extraction process and pains also goes along with it. There is very little or no swelling at all when the extraction has been completed. Prescription of pain relieved medicines is given to you so that you should take them as soon as you arrive home.
